What is the Government Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme?
The Gigabit Broadband Voucher scheme, launched by the government back in March 2018 has allocated £67m to support the “strategic objective of increasing full fibre coverage across the UK”. This means if eligible, your business can claim up to £2,500 against the cost of setting up a leased line.
What is a Gigabit connection?
Technically speaking 1 gigabit (Gb) is the same as 1,000 megabits (Mb), both of which are used to measure internet speeds. To put this in perspective ‘normal’ residential internet speeds average at around 20Mb, with ‘superfast’ offerings delivering around 60Mb. Therefore a Gigabit connection offers internet speeds much greater than what many of us are used to and in doing so facilitates higher productivity for businesses.
